African children cheer for water

Lack of water in African countries claim lives. İMKANDER is admired by the local community for water wells it digs in the territory

African children cheer for water

Uganda/Kampala

Water shortage and lack of access to fresh water in African countries continue to claim lives. It is known that one fourth of the world population is derived from fresh water sources and nearly 10 million, majority of whom are made up of children, die due to diseases infected by contaminated water.

To correct this in Africa, Turkish relief organisations act. İMKANDER dig water wells in Uganda and the association has reached many settlements in the country for this end.

Özer: "You are rich if you have slippers to wear"

İMKANDER Chairman Murat Özer gave information about the matter and emphasised that shortage of water and food in the region stemmed from western countries' colonialist activities: "As a matter of fact Africa is one of the most beautiful continents on the face of earth. The countries on the Equator belt in particular are all in emerald green. Tea, coffee, cacao and tropical fruits are abundant. They also have gold and oil resources. But all this wealth is at the hands of western countries. People walk on foot by 15-20 km every day to have access to a few bins of fresh water to carry it back to their village. hunger and poverty adversely affect millions of people. It is a continent where you are rich if you have slippers to wear, and we bring salute of solidarity from Turkey. We dig water wells and conquer hearts. We are soon going to dig water wells in the territory in memory of the martyrs of 15th of July, our martyrs will be commemorated in Africa".

İMKANDER opens water wells, organises circumcisions, delivers provisions and organises food schedules for orphanage in the territory.

Civil wars and colonial activities exploit the wealth Africa has and relief associations from Turkey infiltrate new hopes to the local community. TİKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency) and similar government agencies come up with long-lasting projects for the future of the continent.
